Saturday, January 3rd 2009It was -7 degrees at 8:30a.m. but nevertheless 16 hardy souls turned out for the annual Cobbett's Christmas melee. The bacon sarnies, tea and coffee served up by Lyn were most welcome before we ventured outside at 10a.m. to play four 35 minute games. The terrain was like concrete but slowly thawed out as the temperature soared to a degree or so above freezing! At the end of the four rounds, Steve Lombard and Glenn Floyd had both won all four of their games but Steve took the honours having a far superior points difference.Leading ResultsSteve Lombard 4 wins +33 Glenn Floyd 4 wins +14 Dave Stubbs 3 wins +31Danny Corp 3 wins +8 Andrew Love 3 wins +4 After the competition Glenn presented Steve with the Cook's Christmas Cup for winning the melee and Mike Porter the Cobbett's Curry Cup to acknowledge all the hard work he has put in for the club over the past year. We then departed to the Pilgrim House Restaurant in Southampton where 23 of us enjoyed a most excellent Chinese buffet instead of the more 'traditional' curry!
